Edwin Allen Richards Jr., affectionately known as Eddie, passed away on November 18, 2024, at MorningStar-Golden Ridge in Glendale, AZ, just days before his 87th birthday. Born on November 27, 1937, in Phoenix, AZ, to Ed and Marjorie Richards, he lived a life marked by faith, family, and service.
Eddie is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Alice C. Richards, and their five sons: Skip, Doug, Steve, Andrew, and Bob. He also leaves behind a legacy through his daughters-in-law, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Virginia VanDerHart, and his brother Joseph Richards.
Eddie had a profound impact on countless lives during his long career as a middle school teacher while raising his own family of five boys. He lived his faith with humility and authenticity, exemplifying that following Christ is both an act of faith and a life of service. Eddie was a kind encourager, inspiring others to explore and embrace a similar path.
After retiring, Eddie found joy and fulfillment in his woodshop, where he transformed pieces of old wood into beautifully crafted bowls on his lathe. These creations, which he generously shared, symbolized his knack for bringing new life and beauty out of the ordinary.
A celebration of Eddie's life will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85009.
Eddie will be deeply missed, but his life serves as a testament to his faith and love for others. He has finished his race, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, and now rests in the glorious presence of God.
