On the evening of April 14th, 2016 at 5:14pm, Eddie passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Due to medical complications, and other reasons that are incomprehensible. Eddie was 73, and was about to celebrate his 74th birthday on April 22, 2016.
Eddie was born on April 22,1942 to Mr. Henry Tidey and Mrs. Augusta Tidey in Eu Claire, MI. Eu Claire is a town located near Flint, MI. Our family owned a local family Dairy there, the Tidey Dairy. He said that he used to go to Flint to get fresh peanuts as a small child with his father. He was one of 8 children, 2 girls and 6 boys. Fern Tidey, Tommy Tidey, Jerry Tidey, Jack Tidey, Eddie Tidey, Ruth Tidey, Eldon Tidey, Terry Tidey.
When Eddie was born, he had asthma, I believe, and the doctors told his parents that he would have an easier time breathing out West. So they brought the family to Tempe, Arizona when our father was 2 years old. He attended elementary school in Tempe, and at Tempe High School was destined for baseball greatness; until he enlisted into the U.S. Army. He served our great Country abroad in Germany, after the Korean War in the 1960's.
Once Eddie returned, that is when he met our Mother Betty Jo Whitaker. They were married in December of 1962, and became parents the next year to Sheryl Lyn. Eddie also became a loving step father and roll model to two young Step Sons, Chuck Dorris, and Jimmy Holder.
A few years later, the family moved to San Diego, because Eddie was offered a position at Rohr Aerospace, working with his brother Tommy. Eddie continued service in the National Guard for several years after that as well. The Couple had two more children in San Diego, Mechelle Ranee Tidey, Martha Elaine Tidey, all girls with his wife Betty Jo Tidey. I remember that he would take us to Belmont Park, and Mission Beach so that we could play in the sand, and ride the rides. They lived there for about five years, and then they returned to Arizona in 1973.
Eddie worked as the General Manager of Bill Johnson's Big Apple Restaurants in the valley for decades, all the employees and waitresses adored him. Everyone loved our Father.
That's where Eddie met and married his second Wife Linda Clifford, and became a loving Step Father to Micheal Clifford. They were married in 1981, for about 10 years. Our Father never remarried after that. Eddie focused on his work, and his children, and grandchildren, and then great grandchildren. They were his world, and his world theirs.
Eddie loved sports, no, ...He really really loved sports, fishing and hunting, camping with friends, a total outdoors man. Eddie dreamed of retiring one day, and just taking the RV across the country. Eddie loved cooking, and he loved gardening, and growing his own vegetables, taking care of family and pets, and painting. He was an avid collector of coins, art and big band music. Eddie was charitable, and giving, the most generous man ever. A loving, and patient father to all of us. Eddie had a smile for everyone, and normally and laugh to follow, he had a great sense of Humor! He was quite a prankster, I adored him too. He will be greatly missed. Love you daddy.
Eddie has lots of Grandchildren that adore him too.
