

Edie was born in Owasso, Michigan to Clifford and Mamie Ballou on November 29, 1927. She graduated from High School in 1945 and married Raymond Knopf on April 12, 1947. After their wedding she lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan where her 3 sons were born. In 1958 they relocated to Phoenix, Arizona to be near family. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church for almost 40 years singing in the choir most of the time until she transferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she is still a member. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Phoenix Elks' Lodge for 34 years before retiring in 1996. After retirement she volunteered for the American Lung Association for several years. Edie and her husband enjoyed many wonderful trips together. She enjoyed cooking for her family's get togethers and especially baking.
In addition to her parents, Edie was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, oldest son Larry, and dearest beloved sister, Jan Durinat Bernardi.
She is survived by her 2 sons Theodore (Ted) J. Knopf, daughter-in-law, Candace, and Martin J. Knopf, daughter-in-law, Sharon Knopf (Larry deceased), 4 grandchildren, Ryan Knopf (Jenn), Kevin Knopf (Chanel), Judith Casiano (Hugh) and Danielle Knopf (Wright) and six great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 10am at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary's Funeral Home Chapel at 719 N. 27th Ave. Phoenix, Arizona.
