We will miss her generous heart and warm smile. We are comforted to know that her love will continue to live on in her circle of family and friends. Her legacy will live on in her 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren whom she nurtured and supported into caring, adventurous, beautiful people. Eilleen was so proud of all of her family, and most recently cheered on one of her grand daughter's during her first guitar concert. Eilleen beamed when speaking of her 6 grandchildren. In her eyes, none of them could do any wrong. She greeted her family with the warmest hugs and smiles. She will be missed by her daughters Mishelle and Darbi to whom she taught to bake sweet desserts, to be present in the moment and to be thankful everyday. Eilleen will also be missed by her cherished friends and her 6 grandchildren, Kiana, Viviana, Donoven Rocco, Eva-Lani, Arianna and Lilianna.
Eilleen would not want us grieving, but rather celebrating the wonderful life she led. She looked at her life as an adventure and always seen the best in people. Eilleen will be remembered as the gracious host of big gatherings of friends and family for holiday celebrations and pool parties. She was always ready with a story about her grandchildren or her life with her husband, Gene Young. She would tell stories about her childhood and growing up with her 7 siblings in East Rutherford, New Jersey. She loved musicals and all things Elvis Presley. Eilleen was Elvis fan, and was one of the lucky ones to say that she'd seen Elvis perform live at The Nassau Coliseum. We will be missing Eilleen, during the holidays and especially Christmas, when she always made sure that everyone got everything on their Christmas list. She also enjoyed decorating for St.Patrick's Day and Easter, during which each year she'd be sure that the Easter Bunny left behind baskets and many eggs filled with the best treats. Her daughters and grandchildren will miss her spontaneous singing and dancing. To Eilleen, the thought of her 2 girls and all of her 6 grand babies, made her heart happy.
Eilleen was passionate about many things. She was a thoughtful gift giver and wrote lovely hand written cards and letters. Her fondness of books eventually led her to meet the love of her life while working at The Viking Press in Rutherford New Jersey, where her hard work landed her role as the first female Warehouse Operations Manager. Gene Young was a fireman, who at the time was moonlighting, "walking steel." She rejoiced in their love story being that he had asked her out over a handful of times before finally saying yes to a first date. They were married on an ideal summer day in July 1969. Gene and Eilleen's love was boundless. Their joyful marriage was an inspiration to their family, and they made quite a team together with their daughters. When they retired to Melbourne, Florida they became the owners of The Friendly Pub in Satellite Beach, Florida. Eilleen will be remembered as a selfless volunteer for organizations including The Knights of Columbus of Lake Havasu City, The American Legion and The VFW.
Eilleen lived for warm days and nights and her favorite season was summer. She enjoyed water sports and boating. Eilleen delighted in tropical vacations on Oahu, Hawaii's North Shore, and in Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Jamaica, and The Virgin Islands. She also took a handful of memorable cruises with friends and family in the Caribbean. Eilleen enjoyed riding motorcycles and had even taken trips to Daytona Beach during the city's famous Bike Week.
Eilleen had a compassionate heart and was always ready to help people in need. She was always there with a hug and a smile because it filled her own heart with happiness. From her love of chocolate and holidays, to her appreciation of blue skies and all things cheerful, she filled our lives with words of strength, encouragement and loving thoughts each and every day. To those who knew her best, Eilleen was the kindest and most giving person in the world. We'll miss her and think of her often in the coming months. When the days become unbearable, we will remember that she would want us to protect one another, love with abundance and to know that she will be with us again. We take comfort in knowing that Eilleen, along with her parents, Eilleen and Arthur Young, are together in heaven, now and always.
Eilleen was very passionate about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude in honor of Eilleen at http://giftfunds.stjude.org/eilleenyoung
A private memorial gathering will be held in late August, to scatter her ashes in the Atlantic Ocean she loved.
May God hold you tight;
May every day be sunny;
May you dance and smile with our family members and friends who preceded you.
We will remember your laugh, your smile, and your warmth. We love you and We Thank you.
Never say goodbye to love,
And let it pass away,
And always hold me in your heart,
And think of me each day.
For my love is always with you
From now until the end,
For moments shared will never die,
And true love shall transcend.
