

Eldon Miller, 86, of Phoenix, AZ passed away suddenly at home in Phoenix, Arizona on April 26, 2012. Eldon was born in Des Moines, Iowa, July 25, 1925 to Ira “Ike” Miller and Katherine Smith Miller. On September 12, 1948 Eldon married Jane Miller, daughter of Ivan “Ike” Miller and Mable Grimm Miller of Des Moines. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Steven Harold of Columbus, Ohio; Sheryl Linn (Ellis) of Monument, Colorado; Craig Allan of Liberty, Missouri; and Randy Lee of Burlington, Kentucky.
Upon graduation in 1944 from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Eldon was employed by United Airlines where he served in customer service and station manager positions. He worked for United in Des Moines (DSM) until 1959 when he transferred to Columbus, Ohio (CMH). During his time in Columbus Eldon also served as a reserve officer in the Whitehall police department. In 1980 Eldon transferred to Phoenix, Arizona (PHX). At the time of his retirement in 1990 after 46 years with United Airlines, Eldon was # 1 in seniority in the customer service department and had used only two weeks of sick leave during his career.
During his “retirement” Eldon was active in the Retired United Airlines Employees Association, the Ahwatukee Lakes Golf Club, and the Arizona Community Church in Tempe.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Gladys and his brother Kenneth.
He is survived by his wife Jane, all their four children, ten grand-children, and two great-grandsons.
