

Esther C.Korinek This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24). Esther C. Korinek, 97, embraced this scripture throughout her life and even in her last days on this earth. She passed away at home on March 12, 2010. Esther was born on February 23, 1913 in Harrisburg, Oklahoma, the 9th of 11 children, and was the last surviving child of Isaac John Thomas Ridgeway and Maudie Willie Henderson. She and her family moved to Arizona from Oklahoma in 1918. Esther graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1931 and last year attended the PUHS reunion and was the most senior graduate in attendance. Esther married Charlie Walter Korinek in 1935 and was married for 66 years. She worked at the City of Phoenix Personnel Department from 1956 to 1975. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Valley congregation. She was also a member of the YMCA Silver Sneakers from 2003 to 2009. Her greatest loves were the Lord, His Word, her husband and family, and friends of all ages. She is survived by her three children: Wayne Korinek & wife Judy of Mesa, AZ; Susan Leach & husband Tom of Phoenix, AZ; and John Korinek & wife Laurie of Mansfield, TX; nine grandchildren: April Tyrrell and husband Dennis, Michelle Korinek, Tracy Greeley and husband Aaron, Brad Leach and wife Manda, Elizabeth, Joshua, Matthew, Andrew and Mary Kate Korinek; and five great grandchildren: Wyatt and Logan Tyrrell and Noah, Josiah and Gloria Esther Grace Greeley. Visitation will be held at the Serenity Chapel at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 719 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix, 85009 at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 19, followed by services at 1:00 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to Affinity Hospice of Life, 2501 W.
