

Eugenia (Jeanie) Whitner McAlpin Weiss was born on February 19, 1934 in Memphis, Tennessee and passed October 21, 2017 in Glendale, Arizona. In her younger years, Jeanie attended college at Mississippi Southern, earning her Master’s Degree in Education, and soon after moved to Colorado to teach 7th grade. After starting her family Jeanie switched her focus from teaching her school students to teaching her children and became a loving and dedicated mother and wife. She loved to host family and friends and never turned anyone away from the dinner table. In the process she became a really great cook. Jeanie loved playing the piano and singing. She was also extremely involved in her church. Politics played a large roll in Jeanie’s life and she was an active member of several political organizations, including CAP. She is survived by her children Mary, Ray, and Marlene and her four grandsons, Ian, Storm, Mathew, and Colton who have brought great joy to her. She was a supportive, dedicated, and loving mother and grandmother. A public visitation will be held on October 30, 2017 from 12pm-1pm with a funeral service from 1pm-2pm and graveside service from 2pm-2:30pm all located at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary.
