Evangelina Eva Solis
June 17, 1940 – August 16, 2025
Evangelina “Eva” Solis, born June 17, 1940, in Phoenix, Arizona, entered into heaven on August 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
The oldest of two children, Evangelina was born to Ignacio Maldonado and Josephine Solis. She grew up in Phoenix, where she graduated from Phoenix Union High School and attended a year of college before beginning her family.
Evangelina lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and love. She was a loving and caring person who cherished her family above all else. Her daughter, Tina, even carries a tattoo in her name as a symbol of their bond and is planning another to honor her memory. Evangelina’s love was deeply felt, and she was dearly loved in return.
She had a passion for the outdoors, especially fishing and camping the old-fashioned way—pitching a tent by the waterside and casting a line for catfish or trout She loved swimming, dancing, and listening to her favorite music, from 1950s rancheras to Fats Domino. She was always ready to twist or the mashed potato. Evangelina also enjoyed classic Westerns, with John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and The Lone Ranger among her favorites.
Holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Easter, were her cherished times, as they meant gathering with family. Evangelina’s heart was fullest when surrounded by the people she loved.
She is survived by her son, John Delgado; her daughter, Tina; grandchildren Isaac, Victor Jr., Jesus & grand-niece-in-law Vida, and Andre; great-grandchildren Isaac Jr., Estrella, Eli, Gabriel, and Adela; her sister, Maria Hernandez; and nieces and nephews Victor, Natalie, and Victoria. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio and Josephine, and her niece, Matilda.
She will always be remembered for her love of life, her laughter, her devotion to family, and the deep, unconditional love she gave to everyone around her.
