

Frank A. Sloekers, 86, of Sun City West, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010. He is preceded in death by his mother, father and 3 sisters. Frank is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol Lillywhite, son, Robert, daughter, Tammy (Bach), daughter-in-law, Jonell, Son-in-law, John, granddaughter, Taryn Sloekers and 4 grandsons, Johann, Kyle, Alex (Bach), Ryan (Sloekers), many nieces and nephews and his dog, Holly. Frank was born in 1924 in Princehage, Netherlands and came to Phoenix in 1953. In his native country, Frank was a very talented blacksmith and welder. When he came to Phoenix he decided to go into civil engineering, earning scholarships in math. He worked for the city of Phoenix from 1958 to 1986. His passions included his family, stamp collections, classical music, barbequing, ornamental iron work, a good fish dinner and soccer. He played soccer for NAC in the Netherlands and passed this love on to his 4 grandsons. Frank was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. Visitation will Saturday August 28, 2010 at 8:15AM with Funeral Mass to follow at 9:00AM at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church at 17111 W. Bell Rd. in Surprise, Az. Following the service will be a celebration of his life at 13766 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley. Arrangements entrusted to Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary in Phoenix, Az.
