George E. Gregory was a real living legend. He was a man of integrity, goodness, and honor. He was as genuine as they came, and served as a role model to all who knew him. George was born on February 18,1938 in Muse, Oklahoma. He moved to Flagstaff in 1949 at the age of eleven. After finishing his education at Flag High School, George went off to serve his country in the military as a Navy surveyor. During his time as a working professional in Flagstaff, George owned a pool hall downtown, a restaurant, a fleet of semi-trucks which hauled oil, operated Gregory Construction as a general contractor, had a custom home cabinet shop, and also built the Foothills subdivision in Clarkdale , Arizona, from the curb up. George had a passion for racing speed boats, which started back in 1972 and continued for years. Everyone remembers the corvette as his favorite car. He was always helping teenagers work on their cars to get them to go faster, or just run. He enjoyed restoring cars including his 1932 Ford Coupe hotrod, his 1960’s custom Peterbilt Semi, and various other trucks, and pieces of ranching equipment. There wasn’t anything in the world that he couldn’t fix or innovate. Many of his unique inventions were worthy of patents. He was truly the embodiment of jack of all trades and a master of most. George was a western cattleman and owned and operated the Turquoise Ranch and the Twin Arrows Cattle Company, which he ran with his wife April, and their family and friends. He was as tough as nails on the outside but deeply caring on the inside. He was an avid horseman and team roper. George loved his family and God with all his heart. Although he has left us all too soon, George Gregory exemplifies a beautiful full life well lived. He is deeply loved by those left behind including wife April Troxell, sons Clay Gregory and Bo Gregory, stepdaughters Tawni Ramirez and Kim Maney, grandson Aydin Gregory, Sharon Gregory, countless friends, his horses, and his best friend and cow dog Wild Willy. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 beginning at 9:00am at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church 3600 N Fourth St. Flagstaff, AZ 86004 with a graveside service immediately following at Citizen Cemetery 1300 S San Francisco St. Flagstaff, AZ 86001.
