On February 12, 2013, Helen Walton returned to her beloved Father and Creator and into the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Helen will join her mother Lillie Mae Jordan, grandmother, Virginia Bellamy and step-father, Paul Dilliard Blunt.
Born Helen Jordan on May 18, 1942 in Florida to Lillie Mae Jordan, Helen was the first of 10. Although she did not know her birth father, Helen grew up in a loving home. At the tender age of 21, Helen gave birth to a son, Christopher. However married twice, Helen epitomized single motherhood by rearing her son into the man he is today. Trained and educated in the medical field, Helen worked her entire life as a nurse. She enjoyed helping people and attending their needs. Her favorite area of interest was psychiatric patients. She enjoyed talking to them and getting an understanding of the world they live in. Helen’s uncanny way of initiating conversations with strangers was very unique. She could go into any place and by the time she left, she would know their life story and had gained a friend. Helen’s big heart overcame any and all obstacles.
Helen is survived by nine siblings, two brothers, Flanders Jordan, and Michael Blunt. She also leaves behind seven sisters, Shirley Perkins, Dorothy Burroughs, Carolyn Sweeney, Della Mae Brooks, Marie Mitchell, Pauline Presswood and Gwendolyn Willis. She leaves behind a son, Christopher Jordan, two grandsons, Darren and Jacquan and one great-granddaughter, Arriana. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Helen will be remembered by close friends who cherished their relationships with her. She will be missed by so many who loved her because she listened with an attentive ear delivering sound advice and a tender shoulder to lean on. Helen was a friend to many, a loving and caring mother an awesome sister and loved by all.
