

James S. Hesterman, Sr., 86, a twin died on Monday, June 25, 2012. Mr. Hesterman was born on February 24, 1926 to William Baastian Hesterman and Ida Maria Slager, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served during World War II in the South Pacific as a technician. Over the years “Jim” had many different jobs, but he most enjoyed working for Salt River Project as a chart serviceman. Rock and mineral hunting were a great pass time. He taught Lapidary to several groups both in Phoenix and Scottsdale. Through his rock hunting he found a very unique rock and with permission it is called “Hestermanite”. Radio and records have been extremely important. In Jim’s younger life he was a radio engineer with KSL and KALL in Salt Lake City, Utah coordinating the Intermountain West Radio Networks. Ham radio “K7ASA” kept him busy also. Jim is survived by his wife, Joanne Hesterman; his son James S. Hesterman, Jr. and granddaughter Elora. His late twin brother John W. Hesterman’s wife Ellen and former wife Jane Kelley, their two sons John W. Hesterman, II and Steven Edward Hesterman. He is preceded in death by a nephew, Robert Wayne Hesterman, two sisters Annell Hesterman Austin and Mary Hesterman; two brothers William B Hesterman and his wife Barbara of Salt Lake City, Utah and Leonard “Lenny” Hesterman and his wife Naomi of Maricopa, Arizona. There will be a Memorial Service at 10 AM, Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1316 E. Cheery Lynn Rd, Phoenix. (4 blocks south of Osborn Rd, another approach would be south on Randolph from Osborn, the church can be seen after the turn). Interment (Inurnment) with Military honors will follow at 1:30 PM at Phoenix Memorial Park 200 W. Beardsley Rd. Phoenix.
