James Stephen MacZura of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on December 23, 2020, age 63, at home with family. Jim was born on March 25, 1957 to George & Mary MacZura. He lived with the family in Belleville, IL until he moved to settle down in Phoenix, AZ. On July 15th, 1990, he married Vickie Lee Dobbs. A year later, they adopted a daughter, Nisha Leigh.
Jim worked as a union pipefitter with UA Local 469, where he was revered by his colleagues until his retirement.
Jim had a deep passion for football, more specifically, the Arizona Cardinals. When he wasn’t cheering on Larry Fitzgerald #11 to get the latest touchdown, he was playing Scrabble with Vickie and winning (like always)! He also spent a great deal of his time pampering and loving his sweet Yorkie, Dabney, who he treated as a second child.
Jim is remembered for his large, contagious smile, easy going demeanor and loving, protective spirit.
James is preceded in death by his parents, George MacZura (2015) and Mary L MacZura (10/2020), his siblings, John Kevin (1985) and William Lawrence aka Larry (2017).
He is survived by his wife Vickie of 30 years, children; Nisha (Tim O’Brien) MacZura, granddaughter Piper June O’Brien-MacZura, and stepson Robert Stow, step-grandchildren Nicole Frenchman, Jason Stow, Heather Stow and Michael Stow, as well as eight step-great grandchildren.
Siblings; George Jr. (wife Marie); Mary Gail Viadero; Mary Alice (Larry) Celender (John Kevin’s widow); Robert (wife Patricia); Janet (wife Peg Zwhalen); Lorene Fetchko (husband Bill); Richard (wife Karen); Lynn Asbury (husband Aaron) and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He is fondly remembered by all who he encountered and is an excellent example of the term, “happy go lucky.”
Family and friends will be received at Phoenix Memorial Park & Mortuary at 11am on January 5th, 2021. Flowers may be sent to 200 W. Beardsley Rd. Phoenix, AZ. 85027.
