

Born August 18, 1947 in Tucson, Arizona, passed away on April 18, 2021. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Michael Beck Ugalde and Virginia McKay Ugalde, his brother, Michael R. Ugalde, and his beloved nephew, John (Johnny) Ugalde, Jr. He is survived by his brothers, William Yaeger and John Ugalde, Sr., and his sister, Mary Jean Ugalde. He is also survived by his children, James Ugalde, Jr., Daniel Ugalde, Jennifer Ugalde and Christopher Ugalde, and their mother, Janice Mason. He is also survived by others who considered him a mentor and father figure, including Bill Ugalde, Brian Otten, Lorianne Cochran, Ronnie Yaeger, Michael Yaeger, Jeanie Yaeger, Deanna Alvarez and Angel Alvarez. He is also survived by six grandchildren, numerous cousins and several grand-nieces and -nephews. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He founded Phoenix Ornamental Iron Supply, Inc. in 1981. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Phoenix. Throughout Jim’s lifetime, he gave generously to charities and those in need. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one of the charities that Jim supported during his life, including St. Vincent de Paul and/or Food for the Poor.
Visitation services will be held for Jim at (i) Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary on April 28, 2021 between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. located at 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85027 and (ii) St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on April 29, 2021 between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. located at 3801 E. Greenway Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85032. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church at 11:00 a.m. on April 29, 2021 followed by Graveside Service at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary.
