

Jeffrey "Scott" Sorenson of Occoquan, Virginia, 57, born in Salt Lake City, Utah, died August 30, 2012 as a result of an automobile accident while traveling in Arizona. Our beloved husband, loving father, devoted son, brother, grandfather, and deeply valued work colleague and friend; "It has broken our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone, a part of us went with you the day God called you home. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's Garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. Jeff was a proud Veteran who served in the US Army for 22 years retiring as Chief Warrant Officer. He served in a variety of key positions as a Special Agent with the Army CID. Following his retirement, he continued his federal career as the Assistant to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense for Personal Security. At the time of his death, Jeff was the Executive Director of Operations at The Cohen Group, a Washington-based international consulting firm headed by former Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen. Jeff was a member of The Church of Latter Day Saints. It has been a source of pride to follow Jeff's journey, as he excelled so eloquently and with great humility. Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Litvinas Sorenson, his children Mandy and Aaron, his grandson Ryan Colby of Virginia. Mother, Jeannette Chambers and her husband Kenneth, of Scottsdale; sisters, Terrie (Brad) Avery of Sandy, Utah, Julie Sorenson Jones and Shelly Sorenson Weindel of Phoenix, and a brother, Larry Hanson of Phoenix. Jeff was predeceased by his father, Rulon F. Sorenson. Funeral services will be held at A.L. Moore Grimshaw , 710 W. Bethany Home Rd. in Phoenix, on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, a "memory gift" in Jeff's name may be made to Make-A-Wish Utah, 771 E. Winchester, Murray, Utah 84107.
