Scottsdale, Arizona.
Jimmy was born on July 24, 1935, in Bonneville, Arkansas, to James and Alma Jones. He grew
up with a deep sense of responsibility and no fear of hard work. After spending most of his youth
living a rustic farm life, where he described running water as running to the creek with a bucket,
the family moved to Arizona in October 1953.
After graduating from Phoenix Union High School, Jimmie joined the Air Force and served his
country for 9 years. He went straight from the Arizona heat to Alaska with temperatures well
below zero. He would often recall that hot coffee would freeze midair. After the service, Jimmie
returned to Arizona where he would tell you he was in the used grocery business. He made is
living installing and pumping septic tanks in the greater Phoenix area, eventually opening
Bestway Sewer and Drain which he operated until he retired in 2014.
Beyond his career, Jimmie enjoyed spending time with his family fishing and decorating his
home every Christmas with a light display for all to see. Later in life he enjoyed his days at the
casino playing video poker and traveling on cruise ships.
