Jin was born on September 20, 1920 in Canton, China. As a teen, he immigrated to the United States in the 1936 and found work as a cook at the American Kitchen Restaurant in downtown Phoenix and then later at St. Luke's Hospital. Jin then enlisted in the Army in 1943, Private First Class. After the war, he returned to China and married Katherine Won in 1948 and raised four sons. They lived and worked next to the family grocery store, H&W Market on Jefferson Street before retiring in 1989.
Predeceased by his wife, Katherine, sons, Ronnie and Gary, he is survived by sons, Edward (Julie),
Howard (Charlene), 4 grandchildren, Janelle, Eric, Lindsay, Tyler. Uncle Gene will be missed by his family, extended family with many nieces and nephews and friends.
