Joel is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Dianne Potter of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, his nephew and his wife, David and Christine Potter and his great niece and nephew of Milltown, New Jersey, as well as his many friends all over the country. He is predeceased by his parents Sophie and Myron Potter, his brother Terry, and his nephew Jeffrey.
Joel was born in Somerville, New Jersey on March 12, 1954. He graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, and Highland Park High School in Highland Park, New Jersey.
Joel worked as a salesperson most of his life, but his biggest passion was all sports teams who played for the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights in New Brunswick, New Jersey. In his retirement, Joel traveled all over the country from coast to coast visiting new and old friends. He loved to laugh, and he loved to meet new and interesting people. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and anyone who knew him.
Joel will be cremated, and a celebration of life is being planned for the summer of 2025 in New Jersey. The exact time, date, and location will be provided once the logistics are worked out.
