

John Oscar Fullerton, 84, of Sierra Vista, AZ passed away April 17, 2015 at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center after a very short illness. John was born in Lincoln, NE, the son of Evans and Edith Fullerton. He was raised on a farm during his youth and was a farmer at heart. He graduated from Wahoo High School in Wahoo, Nebraska. In 1949 he joined the U S Air Force and served 22 years until his retirement in 1971. During his military career he served in the military police division and he received many meritorious awards for outstanding service. He served in the China Theatre in 1958 receiving the 823 Artillery Battle Commendation badge. In 1969 and 1970 he received many commendations and medals for meritorious service. His time in the military included serving in Japan, Hawaii, Thailand and the United States at several different Air Force bases. After leaving the Air Force he, his wife and son lived in the Phoenix area for many years. He owned a business, Track Down Inc., a process server company, until 2005. Shortly after he retired he and his wife moved to Sierra Vista, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evans and Edith Fullerton, his wife Irma Jean, one son Nicholas, and a brother Robert. He is survived by one sister, Ione Timm of Omaha, NE., many nieces and nephews namely: Susan Fullerton, Colleen Emerick, Robert Fullerton, Timothy Fullerton, Roger Fullerton, Jon Fullerton, Doris Sims, Donald Timm, Diane Hiatt, Edward Costello and Nicholas Costello, and his special friend and traveling companion, Berbalee Haggerty. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. John was an animal lover and showed exceptional tenderness to his two beloved dogs that were his constant companions. He spent his retirement years staying active with exercising at the gym, enjoyed golfing and loved spending time doing yard work planting trees and flowers of all kinds, and was always thinking of his next project. During recent years he found enjoyment traveling with a travel group where he met new friends and experienced new adventures. He was a kind man and always available to help others. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28th at 10 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 10:45 a.m., Greer-Wilson Funeral Home, 5921 W. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ, followed by internment and full military honors at 1 p.m. at National Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ.
