It is with profound sorrow that the Halligan Family announce the passing of John Halligan age 80, on July 14, 2024. He was a fabulous husband of 32 years, a wonderful father and brother and loyal to all of his friends. He will truly be missed by all.
He was born in London, England on July 22, 1943, son of Anne Halligan (Hoban) and Thomas Halligan.
Since 1982 John called Phoenix his home. In London, John worked in management at Hot Point and he spent 25 years working in maintenance at John C. Lincoln Hospital where he was able to befriend many employees in all of the various departments. He worked at Surgical Specialty Hospital (Core Hospital) where he made many more friends. After retiring, John had the honor of becoming an Arizona Ranger Associate where he thoroughly enjoyed the comradery of his fellow Rangers. In his leisure time, he enjoyed the activities of the Arizona Volkswagen Bus Community where he made great friends and had great times.
John married Emily in 1991. They had one daughter, Rianne in 1992. John had three children, Trudie, Lee and Steven, from a previous marriage.
To meet John was like a breath of fresh air. His main goal in life was to make people laugh, to lift their spirits. He would stop total strangers and tell them a joke or two. He truly loved his family and friends. If you needed something fixed, he was there. He really liked to be the “fix it guy” for his family and friends.
John is preceded in death by his mother and father Anne and Thomas Halligan, his eldest son Lee Halligan, his nephew James Halligan and his brother and sister-in-law Desmond and Suzanne Halligan.
He is survived by his wife Emily and their daughter Rianne; his eldest daughter and son-in-law Trudie and Dennis Gates; his youngest son Steven Halligan; his younger sister Brenda Halligan and his niece Christina Halligan.
