

John P. Maloney, 91, of Phoenix, Arizona was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 4, 1922 to Joseph and Margaret Maloney; he passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov 7, 2013. He was married for 60 years to Gladys Domonkos (deceased). He was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Edward, a daughter, Carol Maloney Kelly, and a granddaughter, Heidi Fredericks. John is survived by two daughters, Judy Maloney of Phoenix, AZ and Patricia Fredericks of Monroe, CT, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, a sister Margaret and her husband Louis Freiler of Trumbull, Connecticut and several nieces and nephews. John served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. John was a partner in the CPA firm of John H. Venman & Co until retiring and moved to Phoenix in 1992. John was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus member since 1960. An avid photographer, he was a member several camera clubs, lastly the Saguaro Camera Club. He traveled extensively with his family and camera buddies, leading to many galaxy awards from the Photographic Society of America. John held many offices as a member of Connecticut Society of CPAs, American Society of CPAs, CT Exchange Club, Connecticut Zoological Society, Holy Name Societies of St. Patrick and St. Andrew Parishes (CT) and Corpus Christ Parish (AZ) where he was also an usher, lector, and Eucharistic Minister. He also bowled for many years in several leagues.
The Visitation will take place Wed, Nov 13th at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Road, Tempe from 5 - 8 pm with the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard. The Funeral Mass will take place on Thurs, Nov 14th 2:00 p.m. at Parish of St. Benedict, 16223 S. 48th Street, Phoenix. Burial will be private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Phoenix Zoo/Development Dpt., 435 N. Galvin Pkwy, Phoenix 85008, specifying the Sumatran Tiger Experience.
