

John Philip Martinez, 83 of Cave Creek, peacefully passed away at home April 18th 2018. John was born in Gallup, NM October 29th 1935 to Jacob and Clara Martinez. He was second oldest of 12 siblings.
John proudly served his country in the Air Force from August 54 - July 64. He met his first wife Maria Luisa Fernandez in Spain while stationed in Germany. Had two boys, Frank and David. One other son, died a short time after birth. After 10 years of service, he left the military as a missile guidance technician. He took employment with Honeywell as San Francisco district manager for data processing equipment. John’s life was later altered by the tragic death of his wife Maria Luisa.
Due to John’s technical skill and multi-lingual ability he was transferred to Europe. His job was to improve and restructure their international branches. While working in Spain he met Maria Salazar Villamor, she would become his wife April 6th 1969.
He was later transferred back to the states, he settled in Arizona with Maria and sons Frank and David. They moved to Cave Creek in 1979 and after 30 years he retired from Honeywell Bull in 1994.
John is survived by his wife of 49 years Maria. Sons Frank and David. Grandchildren Anthony, Joseph, Erin, Nicholas and Kendall. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, sister, son and 2 grandchildren.
He spent happy years of retirement in CaveCreek with his beloved wife, family and their dog Rocco.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday May 4th at 10:30 AM, St Gabriel Catholic Church, 32648 North Cave Creek Rd. Cave Creek, AZ.
