

John G. Moya Sr., 85 of Phoenix, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away in the early morning of Monday, September 26, 2011 surrounded by his family. Dad was born May 6, 1926 in Globe, AZ, the fifth child born to Angel and Theresa Moya. He is pre-deceased by his parents, his first wife of 53 years, Lola C. Moya, daughter, Irene Moya Cardona, sons Ernie Moya, Freddy Moya, brothers, Angel Moya, Manuel Moya, and sisters, Catherine Moya Chacon and Lee Moya Simon. He is survived by his second wife Clara T Moya, his children; RoseAnn Moya Hernandez (Jesse), Lola Moya Salcido (Richard), John C. Moya, Jr (Sylvia), Frank C. Moya, Joseph C. Moya, Peter A. Moya (Sylvia), Michael A. Moya, 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Clara's children, Karen Groat, Sandra Beasley, John Guyer, Ralph Bruce, Russell Bruce, Christopher Bruce, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Peter Moya, sisters Mary Ellen Torres and Delores Soltero. Dad was a proud member of the Laborer's Local Union 383. As a union representative and officer, he dedicated himself to making sure American workers enjoyed good working conditions, great benefits and pay. He wanted to make sure workers were treated fairly and often said, "hard work always pays off." He lived this example every day until he could no longer walk. He was a giant of a man, devoted to his family, his children, and always the comforter. He served nine years in the National Guard. Thank you Dad, for your love, we will miss your voice of reason and wisdom. May you rest in peace until we are all reunited.
