It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, Jose Armando Rodriguez—known affectionately by all as "Tata." On September 26,2025, the world lost a truly remarkable man who dedicated his life to his family and embraced his roles as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
Tata was the cornerstone of our family, a man whose strength, wisdom, and unshakeable faith touched five generations and any soul he encountered. He lived as a loving man of God, a beacon of light whose deep spirituality guided his actions, always ready with a comforting story, a hearty laugh, and the kind of guidance that only a life well-lived father can provide. His legacy is etched into the lives of his beloved wife, Yvonne Rodriguez, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
José Armando Rodríguez, born in El Paso, Texas, to Belén Rodríguez Hernández, He was lovingly raised by Johnny Hernández, who guided and cared for him as if he were his own son. José was the fourth of four children, following Eduardo, Ruben, Fernando, and Mary, and he also spent much of his childhood living with his grandparents, Cleofas, and Nicolasa Rodriguez, who played a cherished role in his upbringing.
Known for his warm heart and passionate nature, José was a deeply romantic soul. When he asked the love of his life, Yvonne, to marry him, he held her hand, looked into her eyes, and said, "You're not going to be married except to me." Their love story culminated in their marriage on January 19, 1962, at the home of Governor Sandra Day O’Connor. Together, José and Yvonne were blessed with eight children: Rosemary, Susan, Joby, Mark, James, Misty, Andrea, and Ray.
From a young age, José worked tirelessly, holding jobs at West Ward HO, Cavaco, Allwright Parking for $1.00 an hour plus tips, and retired as a Forman at Capital Castings. Jose was always determined to keep his family safe, well cared for, and fed. Later in life, he became an entrepreneur, running and operating his own Harley Davidson Business named Rodríguez Harley Davidson.
José was a generous and giving man. When his daughter Misty passed away, he took on all eight of her children, raising them as his own and ensuring they were loved, supported, and cared for. He was deeply involved in his children’s lives, especially cherishing family camping trips. He loved real camping—with tents, outdoor cooking, family circles, and sharing laughter and stories under the stars. José had a profound love for animals and the outdoors, caring for dogs, pot-bellied pigs. Ducks, wild birds, and all kinds of farm animals, reflecting his joy in nurturing all living things.
Jose was a faithful man, He was dedicated to his religion loved Bible study, and attended Impact Church every Sunday without fail. He also treasured family traditions, especially the ritual of going to Cashion to pick pecans on Sundays and making pecan pies, a practice that brought his family together and created lasting memories.
José leaves behind his true love, Yvonne; his children Rosemary, Susan (her partner Evelyn), Joby (wife Sheila), Mark (wife Sally), James, Andrea, Ray (wife Ashley); and the children of his daughter Misty: Amber (husband Ruben), Alicia, Amelia (wife Christina), Ashley (wife Desiree), Ayla, Alora (husband Fernando), Alina, and Anahi .
