Joseph Patrick Duffy, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, in Phoenix at the age of 77. Joe was born on March 30, 1947, in Buffalo, New York, the son of John J. Duffy and Alma Kane.
Joe is survived by his sisters, Marie Teresa Lynch and Maureen Pace; his brother, John Duffy; and many nieces and nephews, whom he always remembered on their birthdays.
Joe enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from September 1969 to April 1971. He went on to earn an undergraduate degree from Canisius College and spent time at the Franciscan Seminary in upstate New York before attending the University of Wisconsin, where he earned a master’s degree in communication.
Joe lived in Arizona for over 50 years, building his career in the insurance industry and later teaching history at Rio Salado Community College after his retirement.
In his free time, Joe enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, trying different foods, watching sports, and studying history. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people and find humor in most situations.
Joe’s warmth, kindness, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Graveside service will be held 10:00 am Monday, August 26th, 2024 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024. A Memorial Service will be held 10:45 am on September 7th, 2024 at the Irishmen. 5601 Main Street. Williamsville NY 14221
