

August 17, 1977- July 15, 2025
Joseph Paul Koppin, beloved husband, father, brother, son and friend died peacefully in his Phoenix home Tuesday July 15th. 2025 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. He was 47 years old.
Born in Newton Iowa, Joe had endless energy for life. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his family, his Aetna family and to all of his friends leaving behind a legacy of lasting memories and good times.
Joe was the love of wife, Stephanie Anne Thomas's life. Together, they embraced life to the fullest- traveling, hiking, working out, spending time with friends and living everyday with intention. Together they built a life of cherished memories, laughter and care for each other.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Koppin. He is survived by his father, David Koppin; sister, Angela Rausch; brother-in-law, Bryan Rausch, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a proud and devoted father to Jackson Koppin, Halle Koppin, Charlie Koppin, & Kyla Thomas, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy & pride. Joe’s presence in their lives as a guide, protector, and constant source of love will be deeply missed.
Joe will be remembered for his passion for fitness,closely followed by his loyalty to the Iowa Hawkeyes, and his daily conversations with colleagues who became lifelong friends. He loved talking about his kids, and he found happiness in filling each day with plans and adventures alongside Stephanie. He touched many lives with his pure kindness, generosity, and willingness to always lend a helping hand or listening ear.
Though he is no longer with us, Joe’s light continues to shine through the love he gave and the memories he created. He will be forever remembered, deeply loved, and profoundly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to University Of Iowa Healthcare Stead Family Children's Hospital.
