Juan was born on July 7th 1951 to Luz and Francisco Medina in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was a wonderful brother to Tommy Medina, Consuelo Mendez and his deceased sister Julia Medina. Juan also had a special brother he loved to the fullest, Andy Calanche, who was raised by the Medina family. He had numerous cousins, uncles and aunts.
Juan married the love of his life, Olga Duran on December 15th 1969. It was a marriage that would last 41 years. Together they raised 4 children; Johnny, Joseph, Renee and Jacob. Juan also had another daughter who he loved, Rachael Benavidez. He had 10 grandchildren: Pamela, John Jr., Jeremy, Ruben, Jasmine, Monique, all from Phoenix, Michael, Richard, and Rudy from Waco, Texas. Juan loved and adored his grandchildren with all his heart.
To Juan, Olga was his life. His everything. He called her his, "Pretty Woman" and often sang that song to her. Together they were the life of the party. Everyone in Carlsbad knew Juan and Olga could party and have a good time!! Their love for one another was unbreakable. They were one heartbeat, soul mates till the end.
Leaving Carlsbad was hard, but it was to make a better life in Phoenix. And so the Medina family grew and with more struggles and pain, they became a close family sticking together through the worst of times and the best. Juan was there to pick us up and keep us from harm.
Juan's brother and sister in laws loved him. They treated, loved and respected him like a brother. He was someone you could count on, and he'd have your back in any situation.
In closing, Juan will be missed. We will miss the smile - that could light up the darkest room. We will miss the laughter - a contagious laugh that cheered up the saddest day. We will miss the friend - partying and singing the night away. We will miss the grandfather - laughing, holding and playing with his grandchildren. We will miss the father - supporting, protecting, and guiding his children. We will miss the husband - dedicating, devoting his life to Olga.
Sing us a song in heaven Juan, and we will hear it in our hearts forever.
