Julian is survived by his life partner of 28 years Arlene Maroney, his Chihuahua Pepe, brothers David, Ivan and Larry, sister-in-law Barbara and nieces Bonnie, Isabel and Elisa.
Julian served in the Army National Guard. He also worked for the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department as a supervisor for over 17 years and was a very hard working and dedicated employee. Julian also worked part time as a security officer for the Phoenix Art Museum. He truly enjoyed working at the museum and had several pieces of art work displayed there as well. He was always drawing or making things out of sticks or anything he could find to create art work with. Julian's family will be displaying some of those pieces as well as pictures of the museum display at his memorial service.
Over the past years Julian was learning to become an airplane pilot and taken flying lessons. He was very happy when he was flying.
Arlene and Julian took dance lessons and in past years loved to do ballroom dancing. Julian loved to spin Arlene around the dance floor.
Also, during the past year, Julian had begun taking cooking classes and was learning to become a chef. He always had a thirst for learning new things, gaining more knowledge and having new adventures.
Even though Julian had been sick with many illnesses including cancer for eight years, he never gave up the fight to live.
A memorial service for Julian will be held at Orangewood Village Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, 2650 West Union Hills Drive, Phoenix, Arizona at 10:00 a.m. The family would like to graciously ask if attendees would bring a potluck item to share after the memorial service.
Also, Julian loved to wear Hawaiian shirts, so in his memory, the family would like to encourage everything to wear a Hawaiian shirt or dress to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
