Karen was born on February 12, 1956, in Gardena, California, to Muriel and Rich Collup. She grew up alongside her siblings Rick, Melinda, and Lisa, forming lifelong bonds that remained important to her throughout her life. Later in life, she was grateful to reconnect with and build a relationship with her brother, Darrell.
Karen was known for her kindness, her laughter, and the warmth she brought to the people around her. She had a generous spirit and an open heart, always ready to offer comfort, encouragement, or a listening ear. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great pride in the life she built with those she loved.
She was a devoted mother to Brandon Norwood and Sommer Parish, and a loving stepmother to Kenny Norwood. She also held a special place in her heart for her foster daughter, Kassie Sharp. Karen’s legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who brought her immense joy.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Muriel and Rich Collup; her husband, Jim Norwood; her stepson, Darryl Norwood; and she is survived by her siblings Rick Collup, Melinda Pauts, Lisa Grenier, and Darrell Whitehead, along with her children, grandchildren, and extended family who will miss her deeply.
She will be remembered for her compassion, her sense of humor, and the love she shared so freely. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
