

Born in Mesa, Arizona, August 12, 1930, he was the second of five children born to George and LePrele Bond. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Paul Bond, Joyce Leavitt, and Marian Mulkins.
After serving in the US Navy on the USS Okanogan during the Korean War, he returned to Arizona. He received his B.A. in Education from Arizona State University, followed by his Masters Degree (also from ASU), and Ph.D. studies at Claremont Graduate School. He spent 40 years in the field of education, serving as teacher and as principal of elementary and junior high schools in Arizona and in Washington State. His heartfelt dedication to his students, teachers, and the community was always evident. Karl was the recipient of many honors and awards for his work and distinguished service to the field of education.
His faith in the Lord sustained him during his final years as he valiantly and graciously struggled with the effects of Parkinson’s Disease. He was an inspiration to those with whom he came in contact.
Karl is survived by Rita Bond, his beloved wife of 64 years, and his children: son Brian and his wife Loran, daughter Megan and husband Walter Friesen, daughter Sydney and husband Chip Chicoine; his grandchildren, Paige Pauli and husband Trevor Russ, Lynden Bond and husband Brendan Lazarus, Hunter Pauli, Matthew Bond and step-grandson Andrew Chicoine. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Bond, as well as many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 24 at Black Mountain Baptist Church, 33599 N. Cave Creek Rd, Cave Creek, AZ followed by Interment at the National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. , Phoenix, AZ.
