Born on March 18th, 1933 in Lannark, Wisconsin, she made her way to Arizona with her husband Fritz in 1960 where they raised their children. She proudly served her community with her love of Guidance Counseling at Apollo College (now known as Carrington College). Kathy was also an avid genealogy researcher who spent many hours looking into her and Fritz's family lines, which led to many exciting and knowledgeable conversations about the family's past. She also became best known for her phrase of "When I lived on the farm..." which would lead into stories that made her eyes sparkle.
She passionately loved each member of her family, and would delight in speaking to her children almost everyday. She enjoyed watching all six of her grandsons grow, and delighted in their antics of their boyhood turned into the antics of adult cousins. She was tickled pink when she finally "got her latest girl descendant" with her great-grandchildren. Recently, she was blessed to have Erich and Krystal move in with her and assist with her needs - though she would never admit that she needed assistance, as the Irish typically refuse to do.
She was proud of her Irish heritage and took all the credit for her third great-grandchild's flaming red hair (which would occasionally lead to a tease-argument between her and the child's Mother, who also has red hair). Kathy always had a quick wit to throw- as the Irish do - and would not hesitate to share her wholefound opinion on the many topics she felt like diving into that day. These characteristics are what made her endearing and fun to be around, and is now what makes her deeply missed by her family and friends who are in a silence that her voice would typically break.
Kathy's service will be held on April 15, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, located in Avondale. An interment will follow at the National Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you provide a donation in Kathy's name at the charity of your choice.
