We remember Kung Tao Fong, also known as Betty, passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 91. Betty was an affectionate, dedicated, and hardworking individual who always put the needs of others ahead of her own.
Born on November 21,1933 in Canton, China, Betty left for Hong Kong in 1955. She then married her husband in 1963 and immigrated to the United States in 1964. She and her husband owned a grocery store in Phoenix where she devoted all her energy to running the business successfully until she retired and sold the store in 1999.
Betty was a passionate gardener and enjoyed spending her free time tending to her bountiful garden and would share her home-grown vegetables and fruits with family and friends. She also loved to cook and always impressed others with copycat recipes, especially Chinese pastries and dim sum.
Betty is survived by two of her sisters, Lam But Fong of New York, and Lam Chu Ping of Canton, China, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand- nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gim Bor Fong.
