Heaven is celebrating the Homecoming of Kurt Thomas Sprinzl, Sr. of Phoenix, who passed away January 15, 2022. Born in Mesa, Arizona to Jack and Ethel Sprinzl April 8, 1951, Kurt had the distinction of being the smallest baby born in Arizona at that time.
A graduate of Paradise Valley High School, Kurt married his high school sweetheart, Elaine Mabe, June 17, 1972. They were blessed with four children: Amelia Kathrynne Sprinzl, Amanda Kathrynne Fenchak (Robert), Rebekah Elizabeth Hamper (Joshua), and Kurt Thomas Sprinzl, Jr. (Bebe).
Kurt’s life is best defined by his love for the Lord and his love for his family. He enjoyed so much the time he was able to spend with his family, making sumptuous meals for special occasions, decorating birthday cakes for the grandchildren and doling out pennies for M&Ms from the Glickenglocker for the little ones.
Having grown up in a large family, Kurt enjoyed having his children and grandchildren around him as often as possible. His grandchildren, Rowdy, Jade, Brandon, Breanna, Sonny, Arianna, Levi, Jackson, Valerie, Sallie, Kindon, Zoey, Hailey, Dylan, Sebastian, Brock, Destanie and Gracie, were prayed for by name each night during his prayer time.
An electrician by trade, Kurt began his career as a residential wireman in 1975 and over the next forty years, became proficient in all areas of the electrical field. He retired from his position as Plant Electrician for the City of Tempe Water Utilities Dept. in 2017 after fifteen years of service. He was a well respected member of the team, receiving numerous awards and accolades at South Plant. Even after his retirement, he continued to share his invaluable experience and insights as needed.
Another love of Kurt’s life was his love for cooking. He enjoyed preparing, and often improving upon, family recipes that reflected his German heritage, as well as trying his hand at Southern cooking, Italian cuisine and of course restaurant quality Mexican dishes. Far beyond a passing interest or a hobby, Kurt’s culinary talents have resulted in dadsgood.com, where his recipes are showcased and shared freely.
Above all was Kurt’s love and devotion to Jesus. He was born again when he was 20 years old, and he never hesitated to take the opportunity to share the message of salvation with family, co-workers, neighbors and friends.
The happy reunion taking place in Heaven today includes Kurt’s parents and his sister, Sharon, his brothers, Gary, Stephen, Michael and Karl, who was his twin, as well as his infant daughter Amy. Our loss is truly Heaven’s gain. Kurt fought a good fight, he finished his course, and he kept the faith. There is now in store for him a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the Righteous Judge will award to him. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
