
Mara was born In Diekholzen Germany on June 6th, 1946. She emigrated to the United States in 1950 as a displaced person along with her father, mother, maternal grandmother and three sisters from their homeland of Latvia. Latvian was her first language. They were placed with Murray and Lola Johnson on a ranch in Palo Verde, AZ where she lived until she married Ronnie in 1963.
She is joining her second husband, Vitolds Janis Ozolins, (Ozzy), who passed on March 7th, 2022 of complications from cancer and co-vid. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Olga Tubins, brothers , Bruno, Albert and Harold, first husband, Ronnie Simmons and her daughter-in-law Marie Simmons.
She passed surrounded by family, music and much love. She had a giving heart and was the center and matriarch of her family. She was a loving and caring mother to her surviving children, Ryan Simmons (Kathy), her daughter Carrie Heinemann (Jeff), and her daughter Christy Lindvig (Phil).
She was also an adoring grandmother to her surviving grandchildren, Heather Simmons, Tyler Simmons, Kyle Marshall (Amanda) Silary (Goldman) Houdek, Brianne Lindvig (Ricky), Katelynn Lindvig (Ethan), Andrew Lindvig; and her great grandchildren, Bryson, Lily and Rose (and excited to meet baby Houdek in September). She is also survived by her sisters, Velta Ramanis, Aina Runzo, and Ruth Collins (Terry) as well as nieces and nephews.
She loved ladybugs (her namesake), sunflowers and hearts. She was also an avid gardener, enjoyed sewing and spending time with family. She had a nurturing spirit and could always be found sharing her heart, her time and a listening ear to family and friends each day of her life.
She was a devout believer in Jesus Christ and had an earnest desire to share her faith and love of the Bible. Her family enjoyed her passion for playing hymns on her piano and humming them as lullabies. She is loved and greatly missed by all who have known her.
A private memorial service will be held in her honor at A. L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W Bethany Home Rd, 85013, April 2nd at 2:00 pm.
