

Leo Giacoppo, 87, of Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully on December 27, 2015. He was born in Jamaica Plain, MA on December 24,1928. He married the love of his life, Janet in 1950. He served his country in the Korean War in the Army Corp of Engineers from 1950-1952. He was a police officer in Everett, MA for 20 years. In 1975 he moved his family to Phoenix. He was the patriarch of his large Italian family and he loved every one of them with all his heart.
Leo's wit, humor, and charm lit up every room he walked into and made friends both young and old wherever he went. He was a man of many talents and could fix anything. He was an exceptional cook and his love for cooking was equal to the love he had of sharing his meals with his family and friends. He loved music and was the biggest Sinatra fan around. He could even sing a few notes himself. He was king of the hill, top of the heap, A number 1.
Leo is survived by his beautiful wife of 65 years Janet, his children Michael Giacoppo (Norma), Laura Giacoppo, Steven Giacoppo (Linda), and Paul Giacoppo (Erin), and his grandchildren Brian, Jennifer, Eric, Vincent, Domenic, Gabriel, and Michaela, He is also survived by his sisters Mary Gelormini (Gabriel, d.) of Jamaica Plain, MA and Dede Serio (Louis, d.) of Saugus, MA., as well as his sister-in-laws, Rosemarie and Phyllis, brother-in-law, Bobby, and his many nieces, nephews, and friends. A visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Shadow Mountain Mortuary 2350 E Greenway Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85022 602-971-7350 which will include at a rosary service between 6:30-7:00pm. A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 11001 N 40th St, Phoenix, AZ, at 10am Thursday, December 31, 2015.
