Lloyd Rowe was born on January 11, 1923 in Boston, Mass. to Beatrice and Augustine Rowe. He graduated from Prince of Wales College Prep. in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Afterwards, he worked as a machinist for Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, Connecticut. Lloyd proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He enlisted November 18, 1942 and served as a flight crew member of Air Group 53 aboard the Aircraft Carrier CV-3 U.S.S Saratoga, earning three battle stars. He was honorably discharged December 9, 1945 with the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. Following his war service in the Pacific, Lloyd attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1950. Lloyd married Lucille McLaughlin on July 20, 1957 in Schenectady, New York at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Together, they raised four children. Lloyd worked for General Electric for 20 years in New York, Florida, and Arizona. Most notably in his career with GE, he worked on the Apollo Space Program in Cape Kennedy, Florida. Following his engineering work with General Electric, Lloyd worked for the Arizona Governor’s Office in the Division of Emergency Services. Additionally, Lloyd worked in the Office of Air Quality Management, and the Department of Environmental Quality. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Lucille, of 61 years; their four children; their spouses; and ten grandchildren.
