Marcella Boyce

Marcella A. Boyce, 91 of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025. Born in Huntingdon, PA on February 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James and Julia Hess. She was raised in Hershey, PA, where she met her husband, Les.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Les W. Boyce who passed away on July 30, 2019, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. After their marriage in 1953, they moved to South Brunswick, NJ and started their family. In 1974 they relocated to their dream location in Scottsdale, AZ. Here they designed and built their forever home.

She is survived by her children, daughter Kathleen Boyce of Scottsdale, AZ and son Michael (wife Adria) Boyce of Peoria, AZ. She was preceded in death by her daughter Michele Slisky, who passed in 2018.

She has six grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She has two brothers- James E.Hess (preceded in death) (wife Clara), Hershey, PA, and a brother Ronald L. Hess (wife Audrey), Mechanicsburg, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

Known for her generosity, wisdom and adventurous spirit, Marcella dedicated her life to family and friends. She graduated from Rider University, Lawrence, NJ. She taught nutrition, lead 4 H, loved painting and photography, and wrote a published cookbook which was televised on a local news station.

Family and friends are invited to gather for her memorial service to celebrate her life. Marcella and Les Boyce will be laid to rest together where their legacy of love will endure.

The service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Phoenix Memorial Park & Mortuary, located at 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, AZ 85027. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 11:30 am. The service starts at 11:30 am with a catered lunch provided at the same venue in their banquet room.
