Margaret Lois Wilson Burr also known as "Bean" and most commonly "Nana", almost lived to see her 100th birthday which would have been July 22, 2023. Our Nana passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 in Phoenix Arizona.
Nana was born in Toronto, Kansas where she grew up as the baby of 5 children. In 1941, she married the love of her life, Carl L. Burr, and they moved to Wichita, Kansas to raise their three sons before beginning grade school.
Nana worked at Cessna Aircraft Company as a secretary and at one point all five family members worked there bringing home five turkeys respectively for their Thanksgiving meal. She also worked in a medical office in Wichita for several years as a secretary for her favorite boss, Dr. Moore.
In 1982, they moved out to Phoenix to be full-time grandparents. Our Nana & Pops were married for almost 64 years before he passed away in 2004. Nana is survived by her three sons Jack (Sandy) Burr, Gary (Sylvia) Burr, and Dan (Barby) Burr. "My Three Sons" was the name of their boat growing up and these three sons filled Nana's life with so much pride. Her wonderful sense of humor was certainly passed down to each of them. Nana was blessed with 14 grandchildren as well as 31 great grandchildren.
Nana was the heart of her family because being a mom and grandmother were her greatest treasures. Family celebrations were filled with plenty of love, homemade recipes, and playful banter. Nana will be forever remembered by her grandchildren for her well stocked candy drawer, which is a tradition many have carried on. There wasn't a holiday or a visit to Nana & Pops magical home where anyone would ever leave empty handed. What always brought Nana immeasurable joy was having her family beside her.
We will all miss the smile and glow in her eyes that we each received when we walked into her room for a visit.
A graveside service will be held at Phoenix Memorial located at 200 W. Beardsley Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85027 on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 11:00 am
