

Margaret Justine (Bell) McCoy (Tine), 74, originally from Reidsville, NC. and later Pittsburgh, PA., passed peacefully from vascular dementia and other complications due to multiple strokes at 7:10 Thursday morning, December 12, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late O'Neal Guy McCoy of Pittsburgh; son Gerald of Little Rock, AR.; parents Haywood Bell and Jessie Whitt of Reidsville; and sister Marie and brother Ashby Bell also of Reidsville. She is survived by brothers Wayne Whitt and Darrell Bell of Reidsville; daughter Corey of Phoenix, AZ.; son Guy of San Francisco, CA; and two grandchildren- Brandon of Tempe, AZ. and Aliyah of San Francisco, CA. along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. McCoy graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Reidsville, before attending Barber-Scotia College in Concord, N.C. Shortly thereafter, she met and married the love of her life, O'Neal, who attended nearby Johnson C. Smith College. Mrs. McCoy relocated to Pittsburgh, and later Monroeville where they started and raised their family. She went on to graduate with a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, and worked for various organizations, including The Pittsburgh Blind Association, Three Rivers Youth, A Second Chance, and the Avondale Elementary School District. Mrs. McCoy served as District Deputy Grand Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as being a member of Palestine Chapter #5 in Pittsburgh for many years.
