Matthew Hoyt Thiss, 36, of Anthem passed away unexpectedly February 1, 2018. Born in Phoenix, Matthew was a graduate of Sunnyslope High School and a member of CCV Anthem. He is preceded in death by his father, Brad Thiss and survived by his mother, Patty Thiss, his brother, Ryan Thiss, as well as his two sisters Kim Turner and Monica Henry.
Born with intellectual disabilities, Matthew overcame many obstacles and was known for his ability to serve his church and his community humbly and lovingly. He loved Jesus, people and a good party, laughing loudly and freely. Matthew made relationships easily and made each friend, new or old, feel genuinely loved. He avidly followed Arizona sports and pop culture and could often be heard discussing the latest player trade or movie release. His big hugs and tender heart will be sorely missed.
Matthew’s celebration of life service will be Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10:00am at CCV Anthem 39905 N. Gavilan Peak Parkway, Anthem, AZ 85086. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Matt Thiss Memorial Fund at the Deer Valley Credit Union in Anthem 3428 W. Anthem Way, Anthem, AZ 85086.
