

Michael D. Sanfie (born Dosie M. Sanfie Jr.) was affectionately known as “Junior” by his family and close friends. He was born on August 17,1949 in New Orleans, LA to Dosie Sanfie Sr., and Amelia Jones and moved to Phoenix, AZ as a young child after the death of his mother. Michael was baptized at Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Phoenix, AZ in 1955, attended elementary and middle school at St. Matthew’s Catholic School in Phoenix, AZ, and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1968. After high school he began his career in nursing with the Arizona State Hospital. Following several years in the nursing field, Michael pursued a career as a Security Officer until he retired.
Michael will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his daughter Denise McCarthy (Michael), his step-son Nathanial Dixon and family, step-daughter Lisa Pope and family, grandchildren Natalee Sanfie-Salman, Ali Salman, step-grandchildren Sean and Sarah McCarthy, great-grandchild Kamil Noralez, sister’s Geraldine Calloway and family, Marie Sanfie and family, Jackie Perkins-James who was more like a sister than a first cousin. He is also survived by his former spouse Shelia Bandele (formerly Sanfie), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family in Erwinville and Baton Rouge, LA.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents Dosie Sanfie, Sr., and Amelia Jones, the incredible and unforgettable Mildred Perkins, who was more than his aunt, she was a second mother to Michael, his brother Preston Sanfie and sister Betty Jean Winters.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, located at 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009, United States. The service is scheduled for August 30, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
