Nester C. Shay, 93, of Phoenix, went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2014. He was born in Scranton, PA, and married Therese Worth on October 5, 1947. He worked for 27 years as a printer at the Arizona Republic and was a faithful member of Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Cathedral. Golf, fishing and camping were his favorite hobbies. Nester served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII. During his 3 years overseas, he served in 5 different campaigns in Africa, Italy, France and Germany. He is best remembered for his incredible sense of humor and ability to mesmerize with his jokes and stores. He is survived by his lovely wife Therese, son Glenn, 4 grandchildren Tiffany, Heather, Candise and Keith and 6 great grandchildren Kara, Chelsie, Landon, Blake, Noah and Tristen and a nephew Ronald. Memorial services will be held at Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N 27th Ave, Phoenix on January 7, 2015 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be donated to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
