

Patricia Mejia passed away and was surrounded by family at the age of 81, on February 11, 2017. She was born in Los Angeles, California on January 6, 1936. She came to Phoenix at a young age and remained here for the rest of her life. She met and married the love of her life Gilbert in high school, they married and remained together for 55 years. She was a stay at home mom until her children reached high school. She took various jobs in food service to help support her family, and took great pride in the work she performed. She and her husband Gilbert, became foster parents providing a loving and caring home to newborn children. In her spare time she sewed her children's clothing by hand, she loved baking various breads and Christmas cookies adding that special touch that none can compare. Both she and her husband Gilbert, helped raise several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and even provided a home to many who needed a place to stay. As years passed, there was nothing that gave her more joy than to drive a volkswagen bus with all the kids going anywhere and everywhere. She was a simple woman with a quick wit and strong will. She had a deep and unconditional love for her family, spoke her mind and was always there to listen. She was a loyal fan of the Cardinals. She had great compassionate for animals. She is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, and sons Ray and Guy. She is survived by her children Brachel, Cary, Mark, Tracy, Lisa, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She will be missed deeply by her family and friends. We love you Mom and Nana. Visitation services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Greer Wilson 5921 W. Thomas Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday February 17, 2017 at 10:00. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to ASPCA or Halo.
