One of eight children, Pauline’s early life was shaped by hard work and responsibility. After her parents immigrated to the United States, her parents supported the family as migrant farm laborers, and Pauline spent much of her childhood alongside them in the fields harvesting crops. The work was exhausting and often difficult, but it taught her perseverance and left her with a deep understanding of sacrifice and resilience.
In time, the Garcia family settled in Chicago, Illinois, where Pauline met William Davis, the man who would become her lifelong partner. Together they built a home filled with devotion and determination, raising six children: Elizabeth, Arthur, Frederick, Alfred, Bill, and Lara.
Pauline carried both the weight and the joy of being the center of her family. She was strong, spirited, and resourceful—traits that helped her hold things together during challenging times. She took pride in cooking for her family. More than anything, Pauline found her greatest happiness in being surrounded by family. She cherished every gathering, whether big celebrations or simple visits. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her joy beyond measure. Among them, her eldest grandson Phillip—born just weeks before her youngest daughter—was not only her grandson, but a steady companion and caregiver, faithfully supporting her in the later years of her life.
A woman of quiet faith, Pauline is reunited in death with her beloved husband William, her parents, brothers and her son Billy.
Services will be planned at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance.
Pauline will be remembered for her strength, her feistiness, her care for others, and her unwavering presence as the heart of her family.
