Born in Cuba, NY, she was the daughter of Ronald J. and Lola A. (Shaffer) Clayson of Hinsdale, NY.
Pennie graduated from Hinsdale Central School in 1985, Rowan Technical College (RRT) in 1998, Ashland Technical School (AAS) in 2000 and pursued her passion for helping others as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
Pennie lived a life full of love, laughter and adventure. In 2012, she married Barbara (Pierce/Pyles), the love of her life, in a whirlwind romance that became a once-in-a-lifetime partnership. Together, they shared 13 beautiful years, sharing a home in Ceres, NY, traveling the country in their RV, building communities everywhere they went and finding their home base at the Pioneer RV Park in Phoenix.
Pennie was an extraordinary woman-witty, compassionate, and endlessly resourceful. She cared deeply for her family and friends, treating everyone with love and respect. Whether she was playing pickleball, singing Karaoke, hosting game nights, or working tirelessly as a respiratory therapist. Pennie's energy was contagious. Her adventurous spirit shone through her love for motorcycling, hunting, gardening, and she brought joy to every space she occupied.
She was a devoted wife to Barbara, a loving mother to her son, her stepchildren, and a cherished daughter, sister, and friend. Pennie cared for Barbara with unwavering love, kindness and ensured she was prepared to carry on independently, a testament to her selflessness and strength.
Pennie is survived by her wife, Barbara; her sons, Trever Biggs of Olive Hill, Ky; Samuel (Alex) Pyles of Beechview, Pa; Benjamin (Julz Picard) Pyles of Wilkensburg, Pa and Sheradan (Ed) Crow of Chicora, Pa; her mother, Lola Clayson of Hinsdale; her sisters, Sara Coen of Hinsdale, Julie (Chuck) MacNeal of Olean; her sister-in-law, Lisa Clayson; her brothers, William (Nancy) Clayson, Timothy (Vicki) Clayson, and Chris (Marsha Holly) Clayson, all of Hinsdale; her lifelong best friend, Stacey Converse of Olean, NY as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends across the country.
She was predeceased by her father, Ronald J. Clayson; her brother, Victor J. Clayson; and brother-in-law, Robert L. Coen.
In her final year, Pennie embraced life with grace and courage, spending her last summer on the farm in Hinsdale surrounded by her Mom and siblings; by having a Picnic of Friends, Co-workers and a Pre 40th HS Reunion at the Hinsdale American Legion, NY; visiting family and friends across the country and an "All about Pennie" party at the Pioneer Living History Museum in Phoenix, AZ. Pennie was always true to herself and did things her way. She did not want a celebration of life after she passed, saying that she had celebrated her life while she was living. A casual gathering took place on Tuesday January 21st at Pioneer RV Park by members of the community with a toast to Pennie.
Memorials if desired may be made to the Pioneer Living History Museum at 3901W Pioneer Rd, Phoenix, Az, 85086.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary in Phoenix, Az.
