Rafael Samaniego

Rafael Samaniego, passed away at Banner Desert Hospital on February 11, 2018 due to complications from septicemia. He was born March 21, 1938 in Sonora, Mexico. He is the son to housewife, Josefina Samaniego and mine worker Nemesio Samaniego. He moved to the US in his early 20’s, where he worked as a foreman at a sheet metal company for many years until he retired in 1985 at the age of 47. In October of 1972 he married Esperanza Perez. After he retired he moved to Arizona, where he became a US citizen in 1992. His favorite activities included listening to music, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Esperanza Samanaiego, children, Silvia Samaniego, Rafael Samaniego Jr., Jo Ann Samaniego and Angelique Pledger, grandchildren, Edward Samaniego, Silvia Samaniego, Juan Carlos, Gary Sozanski, Amber Sozanski, Ashley Moran and Amanda Camacho, great grandchildren Peyton Moran, Hailee Moran, Elliot Moran, Clementine Perez and Madaline Sozanski.
