Randy Francis Sedlacek was born to Ethel and Francis Sedlacek in Lincoln, Nebraska on February 2, 1954. On May 7, 2022, Randy passed peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife Dora and daughter Sophia Sedlacek. One sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Shane Harward, three brothers and sisters-in-law (Paul and Sue Sedlacek)( Warren and Staci Sedlacek) (Mark and Connie Sedlacek), and three nieces Megan, Leah, Elizabeth, and two nephews Luke and Michael.
During his childhood, he grew up in Lincoln and Bloomfield, Nebraska where he graduated from high school in 1972. After high school, he attended the University of Nebraska and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Zoology. After college, his adventures began. He first moved to Indio, California, and did research in Plant pathology (citrus and dates). Randy also did research at the University of UC Davis. He then moved to Dallas and worked for EDS. Throughout all these experiences Randy worked hard and his caring nature helped him make many friends along the way.
Randy then settled in Phoenix, Arizona, attended Arizona State University, and earned his Master’s Degree in Climatology. One of Randy’s proudest research accomplishments was his dissertation on the weather connection with the Pacific Ocean and the Arizona mountain snowfall that is now La Nina and El Nino weather patterns that we experience every year in Arizona. He then went on to work for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and then MAG as a Senior Project Manager.
Randy will be profoundly missed by his wife of 22 years and his daughter. He was very proud of his daughter that followed in his footsteps by pursuing a degree in forensic science and working in labs. But most of all, Randy loved spending time with family, especially during the holidays. He was a kind man and always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. Randy enjoyed traveling (road trips) photography, nature, cats, music, and DIY projects. He was also a big John Denver fan! Randy made a big impact on people throughout his life with his kindness and willingness to always help anyone in need. He had a soft heart for animals, especially cats and over the years he saved quite a few. He was the best dad and a true blessing to know. We will all miss him greatly.
