

Ret. Lt. Col. Raymond K. Boyd returned to the heavens on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, a peaceful journey, surrounded by family. Ray was born in Detroit Michigan, June 5, 1924 to Roy K. and Ida C. Boyd. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Virginia, who to each other were best friends, loving companions, sharing all the joys of marriage and traveling through life together. Also preceding Ray in death, his parents, and sister Bernic (Don) Mead, all of Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and became a commissioned officer. We are proud to say he served with dignity and pride in World War II. Ray retired as a Chemical Engineer from Mobil Oil Corp and Val Spar Corp. His hobbies; working on sports cars given to his daughters to drive to school. On TV his most favorite channel, the Military Channel. Dad’s quiet time was spent working puzzles in his Sudoku puzzle books. Ray and Virginia raised 3 loving daughters, Pamela (Jim) Bramlet, Penny (Jim) Schmitt and Laurie (Jack) Kane. In addition to his daughters he is survived by 4 grandchildren & 4 great grand children. The family wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to the members of Hospice of the Valley for their kindness and for the care provided to the family and our dad. If desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley of the Arizona Humane Society. Services will be private with inurnment to follow in a National Memorial Cemetery.
