Richard Iafrate

Richard was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. Richard was the father of three, grandfather of seven, and great grandfather of four. Richard was a United States Postal Carrier and union steward and board member. Richard served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962 as a Corporal, stationed at Camp Pendleton.

Richard enjoyed coaching his kids in sports, and later, watching his grandchildren in their sports and extra curricular activities. Richard was the number one fan at each baseball, football, basketball, wrestling, cheerleading and gymnastic event. He was an avid Michigan fan to the end. Richard will be remembered for being one part tough guy, one part softie.

Richard is survived by his wife, Irma, his sons Richard “Rick” (Stephanie), Dominic (Michele), and Daniel “Dan” (Jody), his sisters Rosalie Raptosh (Gene Lawrence), and Felicia Ventittelli (Carlo), grandchildren Christian (Jenee), Marcus, Nicholas, William, Jacqueline, Chris Hall (Chantal), and Gabriella Chiarizia (Matt), and his great grandchildren Rylee, Christopher, Claire, and Thomas, nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Emma Iafrate.

A visitation will be held April 1, 2025 at Shadow Mountain Mortuary from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a blessing and any speakers who wish to speak. The graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
