

Robert Curran, 64, was born April 17, 1947, in Morris, IL to Joseph and Esther (Draper) Curran. Bob passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2012, at the Stratford in Phoenix, his home for the past 8 years. He spent his early years as an IL farm boy, moving to Phoenix with his family in 1959. He graduated from Phoenix Central High in 1965, earned an Associates of Arts degree from Phoenix College, and graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Research, and a Master's in Public Administration. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. His career was in public service; first with AZ State Personnel, then Pima County Human Resources, and later with the Department of Public Safety as a Human Resource Analyst. He was a certified trainer for International Personnel Management Association, and affiliated with the American Society for Personnel Administrators. Always on a quest for knowledge, Bob returned to school at Pima Community College to obtain another Associate of Arts degree in Computer Science. Bob was an avid Sun Devil fan, attending both ASU Rose Bowl games. A proud Irishman and wordsmith, he kissed the Blarney Stone twice. He enjoyed ball room dancing, Jeopardy, and being a foster dad, godfather, and uncle. He collected lions and Norman Rockwell Art. He was a Member of the Knights of Columbus, Gamma Rho fraternity at P.C. and Sigma Alpha Epsilon at ASU. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim and Rick, and nephew Tom Curran. He is survived by his brother Jerry, his sister Kathy Russo, sisters-in-law Carolynn and Gail, and many nieces and nephews with a plethora of fond memories of Uncle Bob. Visitation will be on Sunday Jan. 15, 2012, from 6-8 pm at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Road. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Sts. Simon & Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Ave. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association , 1028 E.
